Killing Aiptasia With Lemon Juice

Submitted by AquariumsLife.com on March 3, 2010 – 7:00 amNo Comment

There are a number of natural predators and treatment that can be use to consume or kill the aiptasia. I tried a few, some worked, some didn’t.

After trying a few things, I finally found a simple, cheap and safe way to quickly get rid of those unwanted anemones: Inject them with lemon juice! This is all you need to do and you will be surprised to see how effective this method is.

Warning: overdoing this could cause a drop in the tank’s pH and dead anemones could foul up the water. To avoid this, I only kill a few anemone each day. I have been using +/- 2 ml of lemon juice per 25 gallons without problem. This is enough to kill 2 Aiptasia (maybe more, I didn’t try).

Have a look at the following video for more information about this method.
