		<description>Are you talking about the fibrous outer shell of a coconut that is sell as a substitute to peat? I never thought about that and I would be curious to know if it works well or not. I imagine it would be a little like peat.</description>

Essentially something as low cost as vermiculite and peat can become as effective as ADA Aquasoil through dosing the water column. Have you ever looked into using coir? I think this mixed with aquarium gravel or substrate is an interesting thought, especially for low-tech aquariums.</description>
