Poly Bio Filter Pad review

Submitted by AquariumsLife.com on January 2, 2010 – 10:28 amNo Comment

Poly Bio Filter Pad reviewDESCRIPTION
The POLY-FILTER is for filtering and purifying both fresh and salt water aquariums. It is a formulation of a special patented material bonded to a synthetic matrix. By means of a unique proprietary process, the POLY-FILTER is made impervious to salt and is also organic loving to certain materials. It can absorb and adsorb contaminants and other toxic materials found in nature or added to fresh and salt water with or without fish and invertebrates. Medication added to fresh and salt water aquariums for treatment of diseased fish will automatically be removed by the POLY-FILTER after serving their intended purpose before the medication can produce a toxic effect on the fish.

REVIEW
I am using Poly Filter Pads in my 150 gallon reef tank. I am really pleased with this product. It’s really easy to use and can be cut to easy fit your sump. They are great at removing just about anything harmful (but it’s not a substitute for carbon). At first, they turn dark very quickly but after a few changes, they will last longer (up to a month in my tank). They keep my water clear (no yellowing).

Unfortunately it’s a little expensive to use Poly Filter Pads on a regular basis. I now keep some just in case I need but I have stop using them all the time. Actually, I have been using the same one for over a year. I simply rince it really well and let it soak for a good week when dirty. I am not sure it is a good thing to do but it works fine for me.
